Protecting Pollinators, City of Sydney

Learn how you can contribute to the conservation of native bees in the City of Sydney by getting involved with citizen science during National Pollinator Week.

A PhD researcher at the University of Sydney will facilitate this workshop about native bees in Sydney, including how to recognise them and where to find them. We’ll then see who is buzzing in the community garden with a ‘Wild Pollinator Count’ together.

You’ll also have the opportunity to create your own native bee habitat to take home.

Wild Pollinator Workshop with North Sydney Council Bushcare

Community gardeners and the general public are invited to attend a workshop on Amelie Vanderstock's PhD studies into wild pollinator interactions with community gardens. Amelie will describe a variety of pollinators in our local environment, including the some 2000 known native pollinators. Amelie has collected data from a number of North Sydney Council community gardens, it is hoped this and similar studies may help us to learn about the importance of wild pollinators for food production and our natural ecosystems.

This interactive workshop involves citizen science and a guided walk through the community garden, please wear enclosed shoes.
